South Metro Community Alcohol and Drug Service

With branches in Fremantle, Rockingham and Mandurah, the South Metropolitan Community Alcohol and Drug Service is an integrated service operating as a partnership between Palmerston and Next Step. The service provides improved access to a comprehensive range of alcohol and other drug (AOD) services available at one location. Clients have access to a streamlined assessment and care pathway drawing on the full range of Palmerston, Next Step, and allied co-located services. Palmerston provides counselling and support and Next Step provides medical and psychological services. Clients may also access home based withdrawal services provided by the Drug and Alcohol Withdrawal Network (DAWN). The integrated service is available in Fremantle and Rockingham with plans to expand the existing Mandurah based Community Alcohol and Drug Service (CADS) in the future.

• Integrated assessment, treatment and referral of clients
• Case management including recovery plans based upon the integrated service model
• Counselling for adults, youths and families
• Single session counselling
• Opioid and alcohol pharmacotherapy
• Withdrawal management including home-based withdrawal management (through DAWN)
• Clinical psychology
• Court diversion assessment and programs
• A family program which supports families, couples and significant others
• Services to clients experiencing co-occurring AOD and mental health problems
• Continuing care programs including SMART groups
• Prevention and early intervention initiatives
• Collaboration with key stakeholders to address local AOD problems
• Needle exchange available at the Mandurah office
• Palmerston Farm information sessions and assessments at the Mandurah office
